No love story is simple, uncomplicated and free of drama. Where there is love, there will always be A Few Strings Attached.
A collection of six unconventional love stories, the book starts with the Laws of Attraction. (Click to read for free) The story is set in Mumbai and though it spins around Pallavi, it unfolds through the eyes and minds of the main characters as they see and together shape the events that happen around them. Intricately strung together, their collective fate hangs by a thread.
The next story, The Protagonist is also set in Mumbai where Manisha, a junior artiste in the Bollywood film industry, watches the movie of her life as it plays out in her everyday existence. She successfully finds her hero, notices every detail, down to the extras who fill up each frame and then despite being the creator of this grand production, finds herself struggling to remain in the spotlight.
It is a different kind of struggle for Ashok Khanna, the narrator in An Age-old Connection, who suffers a lifetime of agony apart from his soulmate, only to discover that perhaps unhappiness is a choice that one makes and that there is no such thing as separation in love.
The thread of togetherness also continues through the next story, Till Death do us Part. Starting with the news of the passing on of Lakshmikutty’s husband of over 60 years, the story celebrates the magnitude of love in its most basic, simple and unglorified form of the day-to-day lives of a normal married couple.
Not all marriages are based on love though. Priti’s passion for psychology in Betrayal, looks at the fabric of marriage and relationships. At the heart of the story is a dysfunctional yet seemingly normal marriage, illicit promises of a lifetime of love and the deeply interwoven thread of deceipt.
The collection ends with Half a Moon, a love story where two friends Sumeet and Anita, learn that love just ‘is’… Together they discover the perfection of the imperfect moment.
